I dont have to knock on any doors to invite my co-workers and family to church...
I personally thing advertising on tv is a waste of money
preaching on tv, sure it might get the "message" out there for some random couch potato to hear as they flip through the channel....but IMO, it would be like the situation with my mother in law - she watches Joyce Meyer on tv sometimes, and really enjoys it - but she won't come to church...she's convicted about coming to church, but not b/c of anything Joyce Meyer says or does. She just feels good about herself when she watches and feels justified. She feels conviction about attending church b/c she sees how it has changed her son and the impact living for God has had on his life, and how God is blessing and helping him every day...and she understands the need to be saved...I think that if she saw some UPC preacher on tv, it wouldnt move her to come to church, it would scratch some itch she has and make her feel like she's done something good and is somehow excused from having to commit to anything.
I just think if we are talking statistics, preaching on tv will be about as effective as door knocking....
