Re: 1Cr 11:14 - Long Hair

If all Hebrew men grew their hair long, what was the point in the Nazarite vow of not cutting hair?

  4. That Jesus name baptism is the only biblical mode of water baptism.
  5. That the Holy Ghost is for today and is received by faith with the initial evidence of speaking in tongues.

All Hebrew men didn't grow long hair, but long hair on men was not equated with homosexuality, and therefore, a "shame", until the 1st century.

Read, Sexual Identity in Corinth: Paul Faces a Crisis," by Richard & Catherine Clark Kroeger, PH.D., Instructor of Biblical and Classical Greek, University of Minnestoa. Dr. Kroeger passed away about a year or two ago at the age of 82. She had just returned from Rome studying ruins. She still taught and had brought back things from Rome for her students. She was filled with the Spirit and believed in the spiritual gifts. She was both a Latin and Greek translator and author of a Biblical commentary. She was an expert on ancient women and the cult activites of women. What she had to say on the passage of 1 Cor. 11:3-16 puts the passage into correct historical/cultural light.

Ah I see, it seemed you were saying it was common for men to have long hair.
