It also portrays the author as obsessed with physical intimacy for the purpose of self happiness.

Heaven?

The Joy of the Lord will be our happiness

And we won't be the same kinds of physical creatures driven by the need to reproduce and addicted to chemicals that tie us to physical intimacy.

The bible says our bodies will be changed and Jesus hinted at what we will be like in the afterlife

Mat 22:28 Therefore in the resurrection, whose wife shall she be, of the seven? For they all had her.
Mat 22:29 Jesus answered and said to them, You err, not knowing the Scriptures nor the power of God.
Mat 22:30 For in the resurrection they neither marry nor are given in marriage, but are as the angels of God in Heaven.

Mar 12:24 And answering Jesus said to them, Do you not err because of this, not knowing Scriptures, nor the power of God?
Mar 12:25 For when they shall rise from the dead, they neither marry nor are given in marriage, but they are as the angels in Heaven.

Or he's assuming sex completes our happiness.. as does intimacy, etc... ?

One would think the reality of Heaven would be comparable to Eden too...

19And I will rejoice in Jerusalem, and joy in my people: and the voice of weeping shall be no more heard in her, nor the voice of crying.
20There shall be no more thence an infant of days, nor an old man that hath not filled his days: for the child shall die an hundred years old; but the sinner being an hundred years old shall be accursed.
21And they shall build houses, and inhabit them; and they shall plant vineyards, and eat the fruit of them.
22They shall not build, and another inhabit; they shall not plant, and another eat: for as the days of a tree are the days of my people, and mine elect shall long enjoy the work of their hands.
23They shall not labour in vain, nor bring forth for trouble; for they are the seed of the blessed of the LORD, and their offspring with them.
24And it shall come to pass, that before they call, I will answer; and while they are yet speaking, I will hear.
25The wolf and the lamb shall feed together, and the lion shall eat straw like the bullock: and dust shall be the serpent's meat. They shall not hurt nor destroy in all my holy mountain, saith the LORD.

It's a big assumption. Im sure some assume money completes our happiness.

But yes closer to Eden but I think even Adam and Eve were purely physical creatures

  1. There is One God. This one God reveals Himself distinctly as Father, Son and Holy Ghost.
  2. The Son is God himself in a human form or "God manifested in the flesh" (1Tim 3:16)
  3. Every sinner must repent of their sins.
  4. That Jesus name baptism is the only biblical mode of water baptism.
  5. That the Holy Ghost is for today and is received by faith with the initial evidence of speaking in tongues.
  6. The saint will go on to strive to live a holy life, pleasing to God.

Perfection though. There was no death. Many believe man was created immortal. So even though we say "physical" we must mean a special kind of physical that we don't really understand or identify with... Edenic.
