Re: Obama's 1st address to the nation

A few things I (and several others) noticed about Obama's first Press Conference. One, Obama had a list of pre-selected people he called on, suggesting (very strongly) that the press had to write down their questions first, and Obama picked the ones he liked. If Bush (43), Bush (41) or Reagan did that, the Press would be screaming bloody murder and claiming censorship on all the channels. Tell me the press isn't in love with Obama and has no bias? Ha! Two, when Obama called on Major Garrett of Fox News Network, he didn't mention Garrett represented Fox News (That would give credibility to Fox News). Three, Obama seemed in answering. The Republicans would have been smart to not cast any votes for the stimulus bill, and watch Obama melt down the longer he was President. We can thank three Senators for not allowing that to happen. Snow, Collins and good old turn coat himself.

Thomas, actually had those 3 senators not supported the bill, they could not have gotten cloutcher and the bill would have died. Then every little negative with the econonmy would be balmed on the Republicans.

Now, if the economy tanks, then the republicans are set to take the house and senate in 2 years.

it aint all bad. the cup is half full....

Are you for the "Fairness Doctrine"?

Blamed (or "balmed" as you said...lol) the Republicans? How? That bill will never suceed. Had it failed, there were already strong signs that the economy was going to rebound later this year. Sun Country (Airlines) and Ford Motor Company, both of which declared bankruptcy, and yet never accepted any government money or bailout, are already rebounding.
It's been said before by others, but I'll say it again. If you spent a million dollars every day since the day Jesus was born (no matter which date you set, A.D. 4-7 or "0 A.D."), you'd still never come close to spending a trillion dollars.
Instead, all the reforms for welfare have been taken off the books. Thus, somebody who works just 10 hours a week can get a $700 a month subsidy to pay their mortgage. Somebody figured that equals out to about a $14 an hour job. There's no incentive to work anymore. Yet the Bible says "he who does not work shall not eat."
No, if those three Senators had voted NO, Congress would be forced to go back and revise the bill and make it better.
Why do you wanna overtax somebody who can move away (from the state or the country) the easiest? I'm not saying you in particular. Just this week, TCF Bank said that they're moving out of state to Souix Falls, South Dakota. There's another company moving out of state (Northwest Airlines and State Farm Insurance prior to that). What do the Dem's wanna do? Raise taxes.
I don't believe it.

Not me (I know you weren't addressing me). But I'm old enough to remember what "Talk Radio was prior to the FCC removing the "Fairness Doctrine." There was only talk shows like Sally Jesse Raphael (who said in virtually every call: "How do you feel about it?" and "How does that make you feel?") and Michael Jackson (not the pop star pedophile, but some guy with a British accent who blathered on and on and on and...). Even the nuts like Art Bell weren't on then.
Funny how the fairness doctrine would only apply to talk radio. Not the 1,000 other giants like newspapers, TV news and PBS that they already control.
But maybe I shouldn't talk about The Fuhrer's...I mean Obama's plans like that.

I've never been a big fan of the fairness doctrine. However, I'm also growing weary of the corporate news agencies that report based on ratings. Many things aren't being reported because it just will not get readers or viewers. The American people don't want to sit through a lengthy and detailed policy debate, most would cross their eyes and go to sleep. They look for quick snippets that they assume sums up a bill or issue. Also a corporatized media often doesn't report what would be bad for their own bottom line, especiallly in regards to corporate abuses of the law and their own censorship processes. There have been reporters of various news agencies that have begun investigating very serious stories... only to have their corporate news agencies demand that they cease their investigation or not publish or broadcast their findings.

I don't think that's true. For example, we have two newsapapers in the Twin Cities. One in Minneapolis and one in St. Paul. They love to mention the other guy's pain (job cuts, layoffs, firing a reporter). The liberals love to mock the conservatives, and visa versa. CNN and their allies love to report their opponents woes (FOX News).

Oh I enjoy Art Bell as well sometimes, too. But he gives far too much credit to guys like Whitley Strieber. After that, Strieber was interviewed on a local radio show here in the Twin Cities.
The dialogue went something like this:
RADIO HOST: So you abducted by aliens, right?
STRIEBER: I NEVER SAID THAT!
RADIO HOST: Well, the reports says...
STRIEBER: Well the report was wrong.
RADIO HOST: So they lied?
He (Strieber) was very combative. It degraded from there. After the radio show hung up with Whitley, the hosts made a joke that Strieber was abducted by Claymation characters.
I also wonder about all those supposed death threats that Bell claims to have had.

stick around. you will find me misspelling more stuff!

and what I WANT is for this fake stimulus package to be defeated/distroyed/ end in bitter failure.

what I want is Barak Obama to see the light, become a conservative and srink government.

the fact is those things wont happen so what I am left wanting is for Barak Obama to be a miserable failure. (it is our nations only hope to avoid becoming a facisit state)
