Well, I went to a UPC church last night even if I didn't go in and I only met someone in the parking lot for thirty seconds and then I was out of there.

Yeah, I thought about that.
Some things you just have to brush off, and go along your merry way.

going to....and even joining a UPC church...does not make you part of the UPCI. the UPCI is a club/group/organization of ministers.

Yeah, and I'm sure you went home and took a hot shower... just for allowing yourself to set foot in a UPC parking lot!
You know how spiritually icky those people are.
(Yeah, I'm just teasing you, Delta. Don't have a cow. )

I don't have a problem per se with former UPC folks still having an interest in the organization. Some people have deep spiritual roots there, so it's always going to be part of who they are, to some extent.
But it's interesting to me how you can tell from the tone of some of their posts that some folks just clearly do not wish the org well, even now, many years after they've left.
They hate when people suggest that they're bitter, but... well, THEY'RE BITTER!
They really should just build a bridge... and get over it.
Just live for God, and get on with life; that's what I'd say.

I can't speak for anyone else, but I have an interest in the UPCI because it is my roots. I have UPCI DNA in my blood!
I want the org to thrive in the coming years, and I honestly believe they MUST listen to the younger generations! It's time to move the UPCI into the 21st century!
Who knows, I might end up back at a UPCI church!

My mom, dad, sister, BIL, brother, man who taught me how to play music and allowed me to start playing guitar in church, all my Sunday school teachers growing up, all my teachers in school, all my duck hunting friends, half of my former golfing buddies, the people who I played guitar with at music conference and who gave me the chance to really start rocking out on guitar with the youth choir, and basically 95% of the folks I knew from birth until 27 years are in the UPC. So yeah, I have an interest in the UPC.
Do I wish them well? Yes. Do I want the culture of the UPC as it stands now to succeed? For their benefit, no.

We had a church split that helped things along. It was a lot like this forum. There were folks who were scared of change and revival. They wanted things to stay the same and a group of us were hungry for revival.
The truth, even though I didn't agree with many things in the UPC while going I probably wouldn't have left if I had been the only one. I loved my friends, family, the Apostolic culture, and Pastor to much. But my close friends that shared the same spirit left and my Pastor resigned which made it easy.
I was a one-stepper long before I ever left the UPC even though I didn't know what that meant. My sister sent me the audio of Dan Seagraves class, Romans & Galatians and that planted the seed of change in my heart. Then I found the forums about the same time Dan went on his rampage but I was looking for answers long before I found the forums. I lurked a lot and followed Dan's links to inchristalone.org . My pastor has been a huge influence in journey.
None of this would have happened if God hadn't gotten a hold of my life. If I had known 5 years ago that God was going to lead me away from my heritage then I might have never gone down this path. Truthfully, I loved the Apostolic/UPC with everything I had but it came to a point where I had to make a choice. I was not of the same spirit anymore.
