These are some notes I've used when teaching on this subject:

The assembly at Corinth was planted by Paul, Silas, and Timothy between Sept. AD 51 and February AD 53 (

Ephesians 4:11-16
“There are those who believe that spiritual gifts ended with the Apostles. That whole argument, in my opinion, is based entirely on one single poor interpretation of one single verse in the New Testament.” Dave Workman 5/30/98
The gifts are for an imperfect church and will no longer be needed when the church is raptured or perfected.
8.
Protocol or Propriety of the Gifts
Protocol “the forms of ceremony and etiquette observed by diplomats and heads of state” or chain of command
1 Cor 14:26-33, 40;
Hebrews 13:17
9.
Our Personal Attitude toward the Gifts
1 Cor 14:1, 39 earnestly desire, covet
1 Thess. 5:20-21;
Isaiah 8:20;
Jer. 5:13
Former Assembly of God general supt. Thomas Zimmerman once compared the Holy Spirit to a mighty river, and the scriptures to the banks of that river. He said great harm occurs when the river over runs the banks, but the river can do great good when it stays within the banks.
