I think many fail to really examine the law regarding tithing. Again, trades weren't tithed for the money they brought in. The "increase" was strictly relating to the increase in harvest and herds. People fail to realize that Judaism has been around for thousands of hears and Jewish commentary explains these things. Please note... the tithe was even suspended by the Jews for free will giving to synagogues after the destruction of the temple and the loss of the Levitical priesthood.
The tithe is more akin to an ancient agrarian land tax than it is a "spiritual" practice as so many Christians see it today.
Today some Jews give 10% as a gift to the local synagogue or to charity. But they are not bound by it.
