Re: Baptism: Water to Fire
also, Paul did water baptize new converts. Even those that John had baptized according to what is written in Acts chapter 19.
What Paul was saying in 1st Corinthians chapter 1, is not that water baptism was not important, but because of their arguing about who had baptized them, most likely some there thinking Paul should be the one to do so, he was disgusted with them doing so, telling them he was glad that he had not baptized most of them. But then did say he had done so with some none the less. but it was not because he was saying they didn't need to be water baptized at all either.
As for his speaking of the preaching of the cross, he merely meant he was sent of God to preach all that the cross had brought for them to walk in, and not just part of it at all. Meaning therein he had been sent of God to preach the same thing that is written in Acts 2:38, as well as how to continue on in the faith thereafter, which the cross also provided too. I mean, good Lord, if it wasn't for the cross, we would not have the ability to walk in the kingdom He brought for us to walk in here according to what is written in Rm. 14:17 at all.
But if you have not been baptized into or in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ, I have news for you. You need to do so in order for the old man to have been crucified that keeps all of us in bondage to sin in the first place, written about this in Rm. 6:6. Because that is what dies within you at that time, so that the New man can take over entirely within from then on. Not just within ones spirit, but also within the heart as well, changing both spirit and heart as a result of the veil being removed. Which does not happen until you are baptized into His death.
Also, Jesus was not speaking of himself when He was baptized at all. But telling us all he had to lead the way for us to follow after Him so that our own righteous could begin. Not His. But ours. Because it is He we are to follow after, isn't it, once you have repented, making the commitment to follow after Him from that day forth. And that is why he had to be baptized as I see it. I mean he was already righteous every whit, but we are not. And if you line that up with what it says about being baptized into or in the name of Jesus Christ written in Romans chapter 6, you can see why He did say that was the way for us to begin in righteousness totally. Because if you think you are going to begin in it while your old man is still alive, better think again.
Nor am I negating the importance of receiving the baptism in the Spirit either of course. But simply saying all three is commanded of all of us to be born again.

Re: Baptism: Water to Fire
No I didn't. I was speaking to anyone here, not to just you. Merely saying that baptism is important, saying why I see it as important according to scripture, so that people will check it out thoroughly hopefully, not accepting what so many believe today about it. Which is true. The average joe out there in church believes it is not important, because of believing it is only for basically an outward show of an inward confession that was done when they repented. And often seeing the baptism of the Spirit as having been done away with too.
How do I know this? Because I was one of them once that was not in Christ, until I did finally see the truth, getting baptized again for the real purpose, believing God to do what He had promised to do in Rm. 6:3-8 entirely. Even though I had repented and been baptized in the Holy Ghost with the evidence of speaking in tongues for quite a few years before seeing this truth.
My friend, their are many believers that have been lied to, just as I was, thinking their old man is dead and has been buried in Christ, not able to cease from sin entirely because of this lie.
Peter had it right what he told those people to begin with when he commanded those that were convicted of heart what they needed to do to begin fully to walk in the new birth written about this in Acts 2:38. Also explained more fully in what is written in Hebr. 6:1-2, so that they also could go on into righteousness as God permitted, which it tells us about in verse 3.
This is the reason the devil messed with the three commandments to begin fully in Him in the first place. He knew that to begin to pick away at any of them would cause him to possibly be the winner of that person falling away serving him instead of the Lord. Because these are the very basic foundational principles that God laid down for all of us to begin upon, so that He could begin to build the house just like it says He desires to in those scriptures I already quoted in Hebrews chapter 6. And if any one of them removed, that cannot happen until they are established in ones life fully at all.
Jesus came not only to provide us with forgiveness of sins, but to provide us with the deliverance possible so that we could begin to walk no more in sin. But until those foundational principles are laid down, that cannot begin at all period. Meaning that one cannot begin to walk in the kingdom He brought for us to enter into right here. You don't build a house that isn't going to fall down until their is a sturdy foundation laid to begin with, in the natural realm, and neither will you do so in the spiritual realm either I sincerely do not believe.
And the truth is, many believers are deceived into attempting to climb up to God their own way, just like happened written about in Genesis chapter 11. Which will not work today anymore than it did then. As it is either Gods way that we come to Him fully period. Whether we like it or not. Or no matter who foolish it sometimes sounds to us as well. Which admittedly baptism in some physical type of water definitely does. But isn't because of what God has promised to do when we do go believing in faith for him to do so. Probably being one of those things that Paul speaks of confounding the wise about written in 1st Corinthians chapter 1 also, close to the end of that chapter. Another amazing thing most likely that believers do also, is speaking in tongues. Not to mention believing that Christ actually comes to reside within us also. That is relaly wild, if you sit down and think about it for a while. Yet He does do just that. Many things God does confounds the world.

Re: Baptism: Water to Fire
There is No greater baptism than that of the Holy Ghost, Fot that is Only Done by God Himself, and when a person is baptized with the Holy Ghost,
they are Baptized into the Body of Believers.
ephesians 1:13 In whom ye also trusted, after that ye heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation: in whom also after that ye believed, ye were sealed with that holy Spirit of promise,
1 corinthians 12:13 For by one Spirit are we all baptized into one body, whether we be Jews or Gentiles, whether we be bond or free; and have been all made to drink into one Spirit
romans 8:15 For ye have not received the spirit of bondage again to fear; but ye have received the Spirit of adoption, whereby we cry, Abba, Father.
Ephesians 4:30 And grieve not the holy Spirit of God, whereby ye are sealed unto the day of redemption.
If you have been baptized with Gods spirit, you have recieved the promise.
Peter preached repentance and baptism to recieve the promise. and He truely thought that was the order of things, until cornielius's house. That is when He realized That Johns baptism was for repentance, (which all the disciples of christ were doing in the Gospels) and realized that The Holy Spirit would come from God.
If God has baptized you with the Spirit you have become a temple of God and are clean, It didnt matter if peter baptized them in water or not God has cleansed them with the Holy Spirit, The dream was for peter to except that the gentiles, was accepted into the Kingdom of God.
I am a apostolic, but we put to much on the water which is done by mans hands and Not enough On Jesus. we give to many alter calls come and recieve the Spirit speak with tounges , what about Come and recieve Jesus. and allow Him to Fill you with His promise.
My 2 Cents
God Bless in Jesus Name

Re: Baptism: Water to Fire
you say it didnt matter if peter baptized them in water or not,the purpose of water baptism is for the remission of sins acts 2;38-acts 22;16 it is in baptism that the blood of jesus is applied to the believer in purification of the conscious and in the cleansing of the soul heb 9;22-romans 6;4-1 peter 3;2- acts 2;38

so what your saying is Gods baptism is not complete with out the baptism man performs?
Baptism according to 1 peter 3;21 is to give us a clear conscious with God, not a putting away of the Filth.
Can i ask you this question do you believe people who has been baptized with the spirit, are not saved?. a man can get baptized with water and never experience change, but when a man is baptized by the Spirit, there is a life change immediatly.
so if the holY Spirit is the seal of God like i stated in scriptures before hand, Dont you think God Cleansed them? baptized by the spirit into the Body.
romans 8 talks about the spirit is Life
i do believe we baptize as a faith response to our believing, infact believing and repenting was a pre requisite for baptism. but i wont place water baptism over the Spirit.
Peter didnt want to even go to the gentiles. it was considered un ethical for a jew to go to a gentiles House. but the gentiles needed a witness to testify that they had been accepted to the Kingdom of God
people were repenting and being baptized to recieve the Holy ghost, but if God baptizes you, you have the promise the Gift of God, why back track?

Re: Baptism: Water to Fire
jesus said, unless your born of water and of the spirit you cannot enter the kingdom of god,do i think we can bypass water baptism and still be saved absolutely not its part of the death ,burial, and ressurection (the gospel) you must have all three to enter in he is a very loving god he can give someone the holy ghost before being baptized but he still expects us to fulfill all things

Re: Baptism: Water to Fire
the bible states acts 2;38 repent and be baptized everyone of you in the name of jesus christ for the remission of sins and recieve ye the gift of the holy ghost, notice repent and be baptized for the remission of your sins we have two things here to do,if we repent and do not get baptized (in water)then we have not done what we were told to do therefore how are our sins remitted

i know that verse just as good as any apostolic, the problem comes is they make Gods salvation turn into a process and then if anyhting happens out side of the process it is not of God
that is like saying well God womnt tbaptize you with His spirit until you repent and get baptized.
but we both know People have been baptized with the Holy Spirit, recieved the promise before even getting into the water.
again I have already stated the scriptures with the Holy Spirit and the seal
