We can't judge righteous judgement because we don't know the hearts nor do we know the whole story. Therefore we have to show grace and paint the best possible picture of everyone involved.
Let's consider our ownselves and hope we will be treated likewise in the situations we find ourselves in at times.
Let's remember Joseph and Potiphar's wife.

Interesting point. I am very interested as to why the pastor didn't use that defense, unless he had preached against remarriage in every case except adultery.
Which would lead to a more profitable discussion about interpretations of various passages and the necessity of preaching the whole counsel of God.

EDIT: Didn't someone say she was attending another church at the time?
She was attending another church at the time the announcement was made. I've seen no evidence one way or the other as to whether she was attending church, or which church, at the time of the separation or divorce.

If she was attending another church at the time of the bikini incident or even at the time of the announcment, that may have been enough of a reason to make the pastor doubt that she was an unbeliever and why he didn't go the 1 Corinthians 7 route

There are a few things we can learn from this situation and that are worth discussion. To name a few:
1) putting ourselves in compromising situations or in positions where people can speak evil of us even if we did nothing wrong except used bad judgement.
2) the definition of fornication
3) we would be wise to hear both sides of a story and seek God to show us the truth before we lay blame or accusations.
4) We should treat others the way we want to be treated
5) Speculation is unwise and placing sinful motives is unfair.

The way I imagine it going down is that she filed for divorce. Since there doesn't appear to be any act worthy of divorce by Georgia law (if I understand it) she had to wait a year before the divorce could be finalized. Sometime during that year waiting period her husband "found" her in the presence of a mutual friends husband in a bikini (the mutual friend may or may not have been present).
Regardless of whether the mutual friend was present or not, opportunity alone is not enough to legally show adultery. The church should also recognize that opportunity alone isn't enough to go around accusing anyone of adultery.

The first thing i thought of when i read this, was this will be turned over on appeal( before a judge not a jury) to remove all the emotionalism that can involve juries ,but now i can see an attorney using a lot of these postings as proof positive she has been permanently harmed. And he would be right.Slam dunk for the plaintiff. No im not an attorney, just mho.Less than 24 hours, 6000 views worldwide and rising fast on just this forum,i have been told its on others. We would all do well to remember how a someone was excoriated unmercifully on this forum, some months ago, for a decsion they made (dont ask their name im not going there)who then took their own life.
Just so your aware, in a jury trial juries determine what facts are true. In appeals, unless it is a de novo review, the facts are what the jury says they are and the only thing a judge can review on the appeal is the law. The facts, even if they are wrong, are what the jury determined in the first trial these are the facts that the judge(s) on appeal apply to the law. The law in the first trial was determined by the judge not the jury.

After doing some research it seems as if Angela is the one who filed for divorce!!! I could not find the reason she had for filing. This would shed a whole new light on the subject!!
What research did you do? if you have the complaint filed in the divorce you will know without a doubt who filed and on what grounds.
