Re: UPC Pastor Convicted of Slander in Pulpit!
After doing some research it seems as if Angela is the one who filed for divorce!!! I could not find the reason she had for filing. This would shed a whole new light on the subject!!

Re: UPC Pastor Convicted of Slander in Pulpit!
So If the bikini at the pool scene was such a horrible act of fornication why did James not file for divorce?? This would make it very clear that the accusations against Angela was only to "clear" James for remarriage.

Most divorces probably do not have a legitimate "reason" to divorce. I would not be surprised if this case was like that. For the life of me I cannot see how this "sheds a whole new light" on anything.
Are you saying a divorced person's testimony is tainted? Sort of like the bikini wearer's testimony?

I see what you are saying... that much seems clear in all the reports.

The way I imagine it going down is that she filed for divorce. Since there doesn't appear to be any act worthy of divorce by Georgia law (if I understand it) she had to wait a year before the divorce could be finalized. Sometime during that year waiting period her husband "found" her in the presence of a mutual friends husband in a bikini (the mutual friend may or may not have been present).

It might, or it just might add more gossip to a growing pile.
Hmmm... If the plaintiff had "left the faith" in his opinion because she was no longer abiding by his rules (wearing what he defined as immodest clothes), was therefore an unbeliever, and then filed for divorce, then he could have gone to 1 Cor 7:15 But if the unbelieving depart, let him depart. A brother or a sister is not under bondage in such [cases]... and avoided the whole matter.

Interesting point. I am very interested as to why the pastor didn't use that defense, unless he had preached against remarriage in every case except adultery.
EDIT: Didn't someone say she was attending another church at the time?
