He claims LeBron "Quit" on the team during the playoffs. He even cites the games and says, "Watch the tapes."
There's also the fact that LeBron had a mysterious elbow injury late in the season and throughout the playoffs that turned up nothing in MRI's. THEN...there are some whispers that started last night that James, Bosh, and Wade have had this planned since the '08 Olympics.
Put all these pieces together and it's, at least, interesting for the conspiracy folks.
Gilbert's rant? There are elements of "Way to go. Say it!!!", and "What is he thinking??"

One guy's comment"
The whole "curse leaving Cleveland" part sounds a bit crazy but I think many Cavs fans can identify with Dan Gilbert's rage. Many of us in Cleveland feel the same anger... not only over LeBron's decision but also over the slap-us-in-the-face way that he announced it. A certain level of narcissism is necessary to be a pro athlete, but LeBron takes the cake now.
If LeBron had planned this since the 2008 Olympics, do you think it was pretty lame for him to drag this out like this? I mean, a lot of key free agents have now been picked up by other teams, leaving Cleveland in the cold.

I just read a blog titled "5 things LeBron did well and 5 things he didn't." In the "Didn't" column, it was noted that Cleveland was not told of his decision in advance of the news conference. That's low. Ugh. I've never even heard of that. In the "Did" column, it was noted that he's taking far less money to play in Miami. However, in the "Didn't" column was the fact that his "Heat" money will end up being about the same because of the absence of state income tax in Florida.
As far as the Gilbert rant goes....He's taking a huge risk, it seems, but it seems like he'll either greatly energize a sad fan-base and build a great momentum heading into the future, or he'll end up looking like a fool. Most great people in history ended up being "Great" because they risked looking like a fool. So for me, I like what he said. If it works, he looks like a genius. If not? He'll be made fun of for years. I like people who "risk it".

Re: Can I Have Your Attention, Please?
Taking less money, to pay for his ring, which he thinks is essential to be called "great," which is what this is all about.
Interesting about the state income tax and how that affects the bottom line.
I think Gilbert will eventually apologize for his remarks, or some sort of statement. But the message will definitely connect with the devastated fan base.

Re: Can I Have Your Attention, Please?
Prediction: Orlando will eliminate Miami in the playoffs next Spring. You heard it here first. Miami will not have an answer for Dwight Howard who will eat them up down low, and D-Wade, not LBJ will have the best series of any Heat player, while Bosh posts very marginal/mediocre numbers.
