Gen 2:16 And the LORD God commanded the man, saying, Of every tree of the garden thou mayest freely eat:
Gen 2:17 But of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, thou shalt not eat of it: for in the day that thou eatest thereof thou shalt surely die.
From the very beginning God put things into proper perspective. God said we could eat of every tree. But when we eat.... Notice the positive. Of every tree you may freely eat.
Now when satan came to Eve, he said "you shall not eat of every tree" Lets call the looking at things with the glass half empty concept. While God presents things in a glass half full concept.
Gen 3:1 Now the serpent was more subtil than any beast of the field which the LORD God had made. And he said unto the woman, Yea, hath God said, Ye shall not eat of every tree of the garden?
What gets me and we see this in life so often we don't even think about it. Is Eves response to satan.
Gen 3:3 But of the fruit of the tree which is in the midst of the garden, God hath said, Ye shall not eat of it,
neither shall ye touch it, lest ye die.
What was the purpose of the additional command added by Eve? Does not Gods word in many places, when God gives commands that he follows up with do not add to or take away from the words I have given or spoken to you?
Yet we feel we must constantly refine the commands of God for fear we will miss reaching the mark of salvation.
I Got news for you. (whisper) It is not about salvation!!! It is about relationship with God.
Jesus said "I am the way, I am the door" the way and the door to what? Man will tell you eternal life. That is just like man only thinking about himself.
Come on people its not about you its about God. We have only a limited amout of time on this earth to have the close personal relationship with God in these bodies, after we leave this earth things will be differant.
2Co 5:18 And all things are of God, who hath reconciled us to himself by Jesus Christ, and hath given to us the ministry of reconciliation;
2Co 5:19 To wit, that God was in Christ, reconciling the world unto himself, not imputing their trespasses unto them; and hath committed unto us the word of reconciliation.
Eternal life is just the by product of our relationship with God. Get to know God, realy get to know him like Abraham. And stop asking him for things. Do you go to your friends for everything here on earth. God can be the best friend you ever had, so quit treating him like he is your own personal sugar daddy and treat him with respect and love as you would do your own father.
Providing you treat your father here on earth with respect LOL.
