That's assuming the founder had a vision to begin with. There are many greats out there, I know; but there is also a sad trend over the years of just a bunch of guys going out to argue their conspiracy theories and calling it "evangelism."
From my own experience across at least a couple of districts, in Bible School, at WEC and serving in different capacities, I'd have to say that the one thing that characterized the UPC over the past 30 years has been a definite lack of vision.
Everything always seemed to be rooted in a "hunker down and survive" sort of policy. Very little emphasis was ever placed upon the "next generation" - despite many attempts to hype that very thing. Everything was just curdled in a stagnant clot and anything different was viewed with suspicion.
I'm old enough to remember when the use of personal computers for book keeping was frowned upon. The ease and productivity quickly overwhelmed the naysayers, but I still hear grumbling today.
I was criticized for using "computers" to "get my sermons" back in the days of DOS and my old 8088. It's this mindset that is destroying the Oneness movement. This is in fact the "Mark of the Beast."
"Here is wisdom..."
Revelation 13:18 compared with
Daniel 3.
The UPC has the "Mark of the Beast." They are responsible for perpetuating the same sin that Nebuchadnezzar accomplished in
Daniel 3.
