"We did not wear uniforms. The lady workers dressed in the current fashions of the day, ...silks...satins...jewels or whatever they happened to possess. They were very smartly turned out, so that they made an impressive appearance on the streets where a large part of our work was conducted in the early years.
"It was not until long after, when former Holiness preachers had become part of us, that strict plainness of dress began to be taught.
"Although Entire Sanctification was preached at the beginning of the Movement, it was from a Wesleyan viewpoint, and had in it very little of the later Holiness Movement characteristics. Nothing was ever said about apparel, for everyone was so taken up with the Lord that mode of dress seemingly never occurred to any of us."

Come on, that is one weak argument having no foundation.
Why some are against homosexual & those who practice it is that it is an abomination to God & should be to a child of God & society is cramming it down our throats.
As well, it is making inroads into the Church, how do I know? People are not shocked or repulsed anymore by the sin.
Remember society is on a downward slide towards reprobation and it is the Church's responsibility to stand against it.
As for the slam that it is in every Church, I think that is a pretty broad brush to swipe don't you think?
Our God is a God of compassion & thank God for it but he is also a holy & righteous God too & don't think that he winks at sin.
His longsufferrring is salvation, not a license to sin.

Speaking of "Ignorant".........Holy smoke-a-roo.
I won't disgrace this thread by verbally sparring with such a nonsensical post. You're arguing with things I didn't even say, but as far as gay people being in, pretty much, every church, and your belief that homosexuality is making an "inroads" into the church? Two points: It's not making an "inroads" into the church, it's been there for a LONG time. And I'd, pretty much, bet my life that it's in every church with over 50 people. What do you think homosexuality is, a one-in-a-million phenomenon? Your post is, unfortunately, just another indicator of how how ill-equipped The Church is to reach people, so frequently. How can we lead people to faith when we don't even know what we're dealing with?

NOW, don't waste your time. Ron will not respond intelligently.
He has a habit of rushing in with some of the most off the wall stuff, and then refusing to discuss it when you ask for clarification.
However, in my opinion, he just called you ignorant, which is a violation of Forum Rules, so please, if you feel so inclined, report the post.

Calling someone, ignorant, is a violation? God considers us all ignorant. I didn't know being ignorant was a bad thing!
NOW's assertion that one in every 50 believers are homosexual is absurd and probably ignorant as well!

Come on Miz, you know exactly what I mean. Namecalling will not be allowed, and calling someone an Ignorant American is pushing the line.
Especially when it's capitalized.
