Shepherding or Church Management?
Reflect with me for a moment on King David of old. The prophet Samuel crowned David as king, but David went back to his father's sheepcote and watched and cared for his father's sheep. This is where he learned spiritual leadership. You must first be a shepherd before you will ever be a king. Some want to be king and not a shepherd. They do not have the heart for shepherding. It is only a business, just church management.
From pages 111 and 112 of Five-Fold Ministry and Spiritual Gifts by Lee Stoneking, copyright 2003.

Re: Shepherding or Church Management?
A true shepherd won't aspire to a throne. David was meant to be king; pastors are meant to be shepherds.

And dogs (of the working variety) are meant to be herders.

Re: Shepherding or Church Management?
I had this thought about when Jesus was tempted . The devil showed Jesus all the kingdoms of the world and offered them to Jesus. We know Jesus passed the test , But we as christians often face the same temptations . Could one of the KINGDOMS been religious? Have we passed the test ?

Instead of expecting someone to carry your briefcase we as disciples of another kingdom should be carrying loads for others...

careful there, Sis.
Some folks teach the armor bearer thing where a lackey or sycophant carries the minister's Bible, briefcase and sweat hanky to the platform, then dusts off his chair and brings him a glass of water. The armor bearer would then choreograph the jumping up and down and applauding at appropriate places in the message.

Where i attend, it is called "the Samuel Project". Younger men(8-12 or so) that take turns on Sunday Pm's on the platform, that tend to the needs of a minister, be it taking his coat, bringing water, or whatever...,poor boys even have to wear a tie.
least I think this is similiar to what youall are talkin about
