That is very interesting. I never thought about mode of baptism-most of my friends were Baptist or Disciples (DoC) or non-denominational baptizing by immersion. So of course we were just right. Never questioned it. I can understand now why I accepted Jesus name baptism so easily, and a little more of why my mom took issue with me being rebaptized though. She is staunch DoC and truly believed I could go to hell for being rebaptized!!
Won't she be surprised when she meets you walking along the beach side of the Crystal Sea....

Re: What if....another Baptism question

Hopefully happily surprised!

It just surprised me to finally connect a few things. I was raised to believe that there were certain steps to salvation-five of them, actually. And baptism by immersion was a no brainer to me, since almost everyone I had ever associated believed that. I left home to go to a DoC affiliated college and came in contact with UPC there. What I was taught in classes reinforced much of what I was learning in Bible studies, so again I thought the doctrine should be obvious to anyone with any sense. Others disagreed, even after coming to church, and I couldn't understand why. Now I understand a little better.

Just got off the phone with Mom, and she is stauncher than I thought-started arguing for immersion on the phone! (The same mom who is embarrassed if someone blesses their food.) I had to tell her three times that no one was against immersion on this site before she calmed down.
