Re: 2009 Review of Homegoing Saints

One person that I know personally who died in 2009 was Sis. Myrtle Hall in the Cincinnati area. She died just a few days before her 99th birthday. The last time I saw her was when she was 84. Some couples had met for dinner at a restaurant and then went to the home of one of the couples. Sis Hall had raised him from a baby after his mother had died and he always considered her his mother. Sis. Hall was living with them. We talked with her and her mind was sharp. She remembered a sermon I had preached on a white stone in Revelation 2:17 some years before and commented that she had never heard that verse preached on. She told us then that she had received the Holy Ghost Baptism 70 years ago at the age of 14 after a street meeting in Kentucky.

When I went to her funeral it was a time of singing and rejoicing because this old saint had gone to her reward.

On the little funeral cards they give out at funerals here giving the person's dates of birth and death, usually the 23rd Psalm is quoted or some times the prayer of St. Francis if the person is Roman Catholic. On Sis. Hall's card they had printed 1 Thess 4:13-18 because that had been her hope for over 80 years.

Re: 2009 Review of Homegoing Saints

I don't know these people but these are emails I received today.

Subject: Passing of Pastor Emeritus Dallas C. Cook

Please remember Sister Mabel Cook and family in prayer. Brother Dallas C. Cook, Pastor Emeritus of Fork Mountain Church of the Lord Jesus Christ, Bakersville, NC went home to be with the Lord this morning.
Brother Cook was Uncle to our Southern Regional Representative and First Assistant General Superintendent Mark McCool, and brother to Sister Betty McCool, faithful companion to our Tri-State District Superintendent Bishop McCool.
We will pass along the viewing and funeral arrangements when we receive them.

Bro. Gray
----------------------

I received the following information:
On Friday evening, December 25th at about 6:00 PM, a true treasure was called home. Reverend Fred K. Hyde, a Home Missionary Pastor, a Foreign Missionary Evangelist, Founder and Director of The Spirit of Freedom Ministries (Bro. Hyde retired in 2006).

Brother Hyde was an entertainer on Bourbon Street in New Orleans, when in 1958 he in his own words ‘stumbled into a little church off of Canal Street.’ He received the Holy Ghost and was baptized in Jesus name, and almost immediately began preaching. In 1960 he and Sister Hyde, who received the Holy Ghost a few months later, pioneered the First Pentecostal Church, Slidell, LA. In 1970 Brother and Sister Hyde became Foreign Missionaries and spent the next 8 years traveling the world as Missionary evangelist.

At the General Conference in 1978 Brother Hyde and Brother Cupit formed what would become the greatest outreach tool to the chemically dependent, “The Spirit Of Freedom Ministries”

Please be in prayer for the Hyde family during this difficult time.

I remember hearing a UPC preacher say (about 20 years ago), "Where I come from 'Oral' just means a whole lot of talk". I never forgot that and it still bothers me today.

Re: 2009 Review of Homegoing Saints

I was trying to remember if it was this year that Bro. Thompson passed away. He was the missionary to Columbia.
