I just saw (rented) a film which, while not scary with a capital "S" was definitely creepy. That was The Mist. It was also downright heart wrenching at the very end.

Sorry to
the thread....
I was talking with my wife about this the other day. We like suspense and scary ... but now days the only movies made include torture, gore, blood, and aren't scary as much as repulsive.
What happened to good scary movies. Why does every "scary" movie have to Saw-type gore - with people being hung from hooks by their skin and body parts being cut, slashed, ripped, etc.
We watched the first couple minutes of P2 - a movie about some girl stuck in a parking garage with a psycho. Turned it off after the psycho rammed a security guard (who was sitting in an office chair) in to the wall repeatedly and then bashed his head in with a bat.
Not scary ... just sick and disgusting.
