It aint exactly Lit... .but one of my favorite British authors is Bernard Cornwell.

Ive read the Lord of the North series (waiting on the new one to come out soon), The Sharpe series and the Grail series.

He is about the best there is at discribing a battle.

I second that, fiction does'nt mean everything in it is make believe.
Fiction can be and often is a very accurately fact packed book wrapped around a story that is based on a real life situation but the actual plot line and charachters are an imagination of the author.

If you have read the entire Bible, you have read a little bit of fiction..........
Jesus, parables, they were parables, not true stories of actual events.
But yet you certainly learn something from them. Fiction does have it's value.

I also like Zane Grey. A lot of those books are classics. Some of my favorite
Zane Grey novels are Nevada, The Lone Star Ranger, Hash Knife Outfit,
The Drift Fence, and West of the Pecos. Great books and great stories.

I began reading them when I was in about 5th grade. My grandfather read them and would always give me several when I came to visit. Over the years I believe I have read them all. My absolute favorite one is The Walking Drum. Another favorite is Last of the Breed.
