WASHINGTON, DC — Today, the American Medical Association sent a letter to House leaders supporting H.R. 3200, "America's Affordable Health Choices Act of 2009."

"This legislation includes a broad range of provisions that are key to effective, comprehensive health system reform," said J. James Rohack, MD, AMA president. "We urge the House committees of jurisdiction to pass the bill for consideration by the full House." H.R. 3200 includes provisions key to effective, comprehensive health reform, including:

•Coverage to all Americans through health insurance market reforms
•A choice of plans through a health insurance exchange
•An end to coverage denials based on pre-existing conditions
•Fundamental Medicare reform, including repeal of the flawed sustainable growth rate (SGR) formula
•Additional funding for primary care services, without reductions on specialty care
•Individual responsibility for health insurance, including premium assistance to those who need it
•Prevention and wellness initiatives to help keep Americans healthy
•Initiatives to address physician workforce concerns
"The status quo is unacceptable," Dr. Rohack said. "We support passage of H.R. 3200, and we look forward to additional constructive dialogue as the long process of passing a health reform bill continues. This is an important step, but one of many steps in the process. The AMA is actively engaged with Congress and the administration to achieve health reform that best meets the needs of patients and physicians. We are committed to passing health reform this year consistent withprinciples of pluralism, freedom of choice, freedom of practice, and universal access for patients."

All of you righties have said I trust my Doctor not the Goverment, Well your doctors support HR3200
Light, can you actually rebut Ha Shaliach's post, point by point, with references that show where he is wrong? You've been calling so many people liars, it seems that you should acknowledge it with equal candor when someone posts the truth.

Obama's doctor doesn't support the plan.

Or family docs don't support the plan. actually socialized medicine is very unpopular with Docs. Obama must not have spken with docs that are practicing medicine.

Re: H.R. 3200 The Real Deal

I'm going to look at each individual point to see if it is misinformation or not. One I see right off the bat is:
• Page 354: Government will restrict enrollment of SPECIAL NEEDS
individuals.
At first glance this makes the uninformed scream in outrage. BUT... this provision is necessary because most of those with special needs will be directed to the multiple programs ALREADY in place for them. By restricting enrollment for special needs cases the program can be selective in order to cover only those who AREN'T covered or don't qualify for programs currently in place. This was one thing I heard about early and looked into because I was a volunteer theraputic programmer for the handicapped with Echoing Hills/Echoing Valley Residential Centers.

Every point has to be looked into individually to find why the provision exists. Anyone who believed point on page 354 would prevent the handicapped from much needed care is obviously in need of a little more information than what they are being told by the individual who compiled this list. For the record... this is what is called misinformation.

Lies in the above quote are in red.

Are you blind? Are you deaf? Obama's Dr. in Chicago is for single payer. This is another of your false statements.

Coadi do you have half a brain? Millions of doctors participate and receive payment from a socialized program alread in the US. It's called Medicare.
