What or who is the world, and how exactly are...

What or who is the world, and how exactly are we supposed to be separate from them?

Biblically speaking, is it the way we dress and look, or is it spiritual, or is it something else? How are we supposed to "come out from amoung them"? 2 Corth 6:17

Re: What or who is the world, and how exactly are.

Personally I think that if we are showing the Fruit of the Spirit and if we as believers have those signs following us that are mentioned we are going to be different both spirit and flesh. If you look around todays world I think those 'liberals' with the spirit of God in them even stand out from the world in the way they look and dress. May not be as conservative as some but still better than the world.
Before anyone jumps to conclusions notice I did say "those 'liberals' with the spirit of God in them".

Re: What or who is the world, and how exactly are.

I've mentioned this before, but ask yourself this - 200 years ago, when everyone dressed the same, sinner or saint... how then was a Christian separate from the world? An atheist woman would have had long hair in an updo, long sleeves, floor-length skirt, no skin showing except from chin to forehead and hands. How was a Christian woman to be separate from her?

Attitude, love, a worshipful heart. A heart that was set on Heaven, and did all to please God. Not a heart full of ambition that would step on anyone in its path, or a heart full of greed, anger, lust, desires of the flesh.

Re: What or who is the world, and how exactly are.

1 John 2:15-18,

15 Love not the world (system), neither the things that are in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him.

16 For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world.

17 And the world passeth away, and the lust thereof: but he that doeth the will of God abideth for ever.

John 3:16, For God so loved the world (people)that HE gave His only begotten
Son that whosoever beliveth in him should not perish, but have everlasting
life.

The things of the world (system) fits into these three catagories:

lust of the flesh
lust of the eye,
and the pride of life.

These are NOT of the Father, but are after the world. And the world will
pass away and the LUSTS thereof. BUT he that doeth the will of the Father
abideth forever.

If we are led by the SPIRIT of God, we will come out of the world and be
seperate. And they shall be my sons and daughters, saith the LORD ALMIGHTY.

I want to please my God, so I will endeavor by HIS Grace and Mercy to
do that. Even though some things may not be spelled out in the Bible, if
we seek the Lord to know HIS pleasure about it, He will let us know by
the leading of HIS Spirit.

The UPC did not lead my grandmother, parents, and others that received
the Holy Ghost before there was a UPC. They were willing to be led by the
Spirit of GOD.

If I had a problem with some things discussed on this forum, I would be
seeking to know GOD's WILL regarding the matter. I would be trying to find
the leading of the Spirit. Not listening to everyone else and maybe even
those who try to justify their desires and actions. God sees and knows our
hearts, our thoughts and intents.

There is a lack of fear of the LORD. Wisdom, knowledge and understanding
begins with those who fear the LORD! It is a fearful thing to fall into the
Hands of The Living God!

If we desire to please ourselves and those that follow the world's system,
we need to "examine ourselves, to see IF we be in the Faith". 2Cor.13:5

There's two camps, God's and Satan's. Satan is the god of this "world". If you aren't part of God's camp then you belong to Satan. To be separate from the world is to be called out and set apart for God's use and purpose. We are in the world but not of the world (strangers and pilgrims.) We look for a city whose builder and maker is God. While we are here in this world, we are to be witnesses of Christ not only in word, but in deed and appearance. We are ambassadors and we serve and represent the Lord Jesus Christ.

To come out from among them is to quit acting, thinking, and talking like a devil (sinning) and start behaving like Christ.

The world is the SYSTEM outside of God comprised of unbelievers and led actually by the enemy. John said the world and everything in it is comprised of the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes and the pride of life.
1 John 2:16-17 KJV For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world. (17) And the world passeth away, and the lust thereof: but he that doeth the will of God abideth for ever.
Basically, these three elements were found in the forbidden fruit that Eve saw was good for food (lust of the flesh), Pleasant to the sight (lust of the eyes) and the desire to make one wise (pride of life). So, you could say the WORLD is everyone and everything that ate of that forbidden fruit, and still eats spiritually, as opposed to those who have eaten fruit of Life in Jesus Christ and have been removed from the world thereby.

We are separate from them by the way we think and desire and live. Lives should be lived outside the parameters of lust of the eyes, lust of the flesh and pride of life.

John said the world is comprised of these three things, and they are not of the Father and they shall pass away with those lusts and pride when they pass away.
