Some good stuff.

I am having an Amish man make a staff with the double crook.

He is carving the date of installation service, pastors name, and
"He shall feed his flock like a shepherd: … gather the lambs … carry them …and shall gently lead …." Isa 40:11

Looks really good

Thanks again
Hope I can return the favor
.
Bro. Baird,

Oh, that sounds so neat! What a wonderful idea

and may this special service be a tremendeous

success, in Jesus Name!

Blessings,

The rod was used to beat away those who would prey on the sheep. It was also used to break the leg of a sheep that would not respond to the work of the staff. And wonder of wonders, David said it was a comfort. Why? Becasue whom the Lord loveth He chasteneth.

Bro. Baird,

One interesting message a friend preached our church involved a shepherds staff. The shepherds staff, at times, was used to record the history of the shepherd. This preacher had used a woodburner to engrave on the staff the key dates and events of his ministry.

It was interesting to hear him preach the provision and protection of God from the dates recorded on the staff.

Perhaps a unique idea would be to present a staff to the minister for recording his own history?
