I attended that church from 1994-1999, and again off and on from 2004-2005.
They are UPC, yes.
West Monroe Street Apostolic Church.
Is the pastor still Terry Griffin/Griffith??? Can't remember his name for sure. When I was around (seventies), it was Bro. Caraway. Most of my friends went to Radio Tabernacle though, across town. But Terry and Richard Pearce were from West Monroe. There were actually three rather large UPC churches in Herrin at that time, which was amazing considering the size of the town. I knew a lot of people from there!

Terry Griffith is still the pastor there. He is married and has two sons, one attending Gateway and the other is in 8th grade.
I never knew Bro. Caraway but his granddaughter Cindy used to babysit my children.
Richard Pearce is married to one of Terry's cousins (Rhonda Wyatt) and they have three children. They now pastor in Anna.
They are both great men of God. I love them both as well as their wives and children.
There is another UPC church in Herrin. Michael Tetmeyer pastors there. Bill Elliott did pastor there but retired about 7 years ago or so.
I really miss living there.

Wow! Does this bring back a barrel of memories!!!!! I used to run around in that area all my high school years. My best friend lived in Simpson and attended the UPC church in Glendale. My grandpa pastored all over that area of Southern Illinois. Our church was very small so Bro. Fitzgerald at Radio Tab used to let us go on all their youth trips and conferences with them. That church produced a lot of well known preachers in UPC, including Bruce Howell, Monte Showalter, Marvin Walker, Val Treece. etc. Those were fun days for me!

Bruce Howell is related to several people I know there. He visits often too. Great man.
Who was your grandfather?
Did you know any Upchurches? They have preachers all over the place too.
Cecil Sullivan, missionary to Philipines, is from southern Illinois also.
Did you know Frank and Julie Clark? He used to pastor there back in the 50's, I think. They are both gone now. He died in 1995 and she just died this past year.
I'm getting so homesick now.
