top buttons only ?
What's with just buttoning the top button on men's suits? Does anyone else think it's goofy?

It's a practice that originated in England because men were getting too fat to button them all. That's what I read somewhere.

Actually for a two buttoned suit, the top button only should be buttoned unless you are younger than say...20, then button them both. On a three button suit, the top two buttons should be buttoned.

Probably so, I wear one because it looks neat & professional.
And no, they are not expensive suits.

Well, it would be conforming to one of the world's customs.
Jesus and the Apostles didn't wear a suit coat, white shirt, and cloth necklace (necktie) to church.
