Just heard that Sis. Pounders, wife of the late Rev. Wayne Pounders of DeRidder Pentecostal Gospel Lighthouse has passed away today.

Sorry to hear this.

Wayne Pounders was a very underrated preacher. He should have preached a lot more big campmeetings and general conferences than he did.

One of the most enjoyable times I had in eight years of evangelizing was preaching at Gospel Lighthouse in DeRidder. He also preached for me.

He was a doctrinaire "hardline" conservative who was very much a cooperating member of the Louisiana District. He personnified the unity that was Louisiana.

Sadly, times are changing.

He had a very rough and ready friendship with his neighboring pastor, George Glass Junior, even though they were poles apart on "standards" and such.

Sister Pounders was a very gracious hostess and I enjoyed their hospitality very much.

I knew the Pounders so much of my life. Had the highest regards for them. Say Louisiana UPC and your mind would go to a few places one of which was the Pounders.

As Timlandry said, times are changing in Louisiana...sadly, I might add. The Wise/Weeks/Tenny years were the golden years of the La. Dist. UPC.
