A true story was told about Dan Scott in his early ministry.
One Fall day, a woman in his community passed away and her family asked Dan Scott to perform the funeral. Dan asked if they wanted a song to be sung. Her daughter spoke up and said that her mother's favorite song was "Silver Bells". She said that her mother would cry every time she heard that song.
To make sure, Dan asked her again if that was the song she wanted him to sing at her funeral. She answered that her mother wouldn't want it any other way!
Dan found the words, and at the appropriate time commenced to singing "Silver Bells".
"Silver Bells, Silver Bells,
It's Christmas time in the city,
Ring-a-ling, hear them sing,
Soon it will be Christmas day"
The audience looked puzzled since Christmas was a few months away. The daughter turned white in sudden horror!
The daughter came up to Dan after the funeral and told him that it should have been "Golden Bells" instead of "Silver Bells"!
Her mother's favorite song actually was, "When They Ring Those Golden Bells"
There is a BIG difference between silver bells and golden bells!
