I'm also a tech work with computers everyday and I have the same problem. The T60 is a Lenovo notebook which carries different drivers I downloaded could not get sound to work. Finally after 2 weeks of uninstalling and installing the notebook is back with user.

Same here...not only that if they stopped working after they installed a new HD then maybe they did something.

New speakers won't do squat though. He needs an external sound device like a USB device from Creative.

But they used to work on his.

It does sound like a driver issue.

Uninstall the old ones by going into the Device manager (same place you see the yellow warning signs)

you can click on the yellow warning signs or right click and remove. Install the new downloaded drivers, then reboot

I gar-on-tee it is a driver issue.
