Governor Sarah Palin's Church History

Here is a link to a Newsweek story about Governor Sarah Palin's church and her church history.

Bottom line is that she was raised Roman Catholic then as a teenage began attending an Assembly of God church where she was baptized and whose pastor (now retired) she has credited with her coming to the Lord.

She attended the Pentecostal AOG church until age 38 when she began attending the Wasilla Bible Church that she currently attends.

"We did not wear uniforms. The lady workers dressed in the current fashions of the day, ...silks...satins...jewels or whatever they happened to possess. They were very smartly turned out, so that they made an impressive appearance on the streets where a large part of our work was conducted in the early years.

"It was not until long after, when former Holiness preachers had become part of us, that strict plainness of dress began to be taught.

"Although Entire Sanctification was preached at the beginning of the Movement, it was from a Wesleyan viewpoint, and had in it very little of the later Holiness Movement characteristics. Nothing was ever said about apparel, for everyone was so taken up with the Lord that mode of dress seemingly never occurred to any of us."

Re: Governor Sarah Palin's Church History

She attends the same church that my pastor's brother is based out of. He is an evangelist in Alaska.

I said to my pastor that I found that interesting because I'd heard that she went to a Pentecostal Church. I didn't know that his brother was Pentecostal (Our church is Christian and Missionary Alliance). I had to chuckle when he said to me, "They are Pentecostal. But they are only mildly Pentecostal."

"Mildly Pentecostal"??? What does THAT mean? LOL!

Cant say for sure what he meant...
...but I do know there are many churches where they believe in speaking in tongues, but they don't teach and/or encourage it much among their members.

Such churches are often considered "mildly Pentecostal" by many traditional Pentecostals.

It means she is close enough a lot of Pentecostals will call it close enough so as to excite themselves about her being VP of the country, but not close enough to be a Sunday school teacher if she were in most of their local churches.

You're either in the water or you aren't. Just like there's no such thing as a little bit pregnant.
