Did the HD crash or did Windows crash? If the PC was on and the power just went out then windows might have some file errors. If that is the case try booting in to safe mode then running a chkdisk or even do a system restore from the safe mode menu

IF that doesn't work, there are services like Drive Savers which can get everything off. They often get hard drives that have been through fires or thrown out windows!

Thanks for all the prayers and suggestions.

My BIL came and my hubby bought a new hard drive, but they were able to fix the old one also. I did not lose anything!

When it's really storming bad I try to remember to turn everything off and unplug my computer!

Normally we do too. But we went to bed and forgot about it and then it hit here at 4 am and we weren't "awake" enough to remember.

Hopefully, we don't do that again.

But my husbands computer did fine. Which I am thankful for, but odd that it affected one and not the other???
