I've never heard that scripture... but I have heard that judgment must begin at the house of God.

I am here and reading.

My thoughts on "Are We An "Entertainment" Focused Society?"

I guess I would say yes.

Entertainment is an important part of life especially if one has children. When we fulfill this need with electronic media, be that VIDEO GAMES, INTERNET, TV, IPOD music, etc. we do our entire family a disservice. The social interaction with family is an absolute necessity for healthy development and balance in life. Much entertainment today is simply a substitute for the real thing

IMHO.

LOL... WOW... were you in a phone booth somewhere.

So true... I was pleased to see the way you & your family have chosen to live your lives.

I admire such commitment in today's world. I am working on that myself as God grants me the ability to do so.

I am not against Entertainment" or "Having Fun" don't get me wrong.
I am not "Amish" I am just wondering if the pendulum has swung away from the things of God taking the back seat to the things this world and "Entertainment"?

We are indeed an entertainment focused generation - no doubt about it - and it's been brought into the church as well. No duobt about it and heaven help us is all I can say.

We need to simplify things and keep the main thing the main thing.

Are we an entertainment obsessed culture? I believe in the world at least in North America we are.

How about in the Church?
Have we become so Entertainment Focused that we would be more inclined to
be Entertainment than to Fast? Than to Pray? Than to attend Revivals?
Than to go on outreach? Than to teach Bible Studies?

In speaking to a Minister friend of mine he stated that he was against TV because it is not only not Spiritually Healthy but is a big Time Waster, when their is work to be done for the Kingdom by all the Saints not just Ministry.

He has a "Strong Point" to be made. Are we an Entertainment Oriented culture in our Churches rather than a Revival Oriented culture?

Your Thoughts?

For or against?

Why, why not?
I thought I answered this on that other thread!

Yes, American culture is an entertainment-obsessed culture. Yes, the Church has been corrupted by that culture and has, itself, become entertainment-obsessed.
