Apologies to sinners and those yet converted

Rec'd my new Pentecostal Herald today. Flipping thru I came upon an advertisement for a fellowship function of some sort in Branson. Maybe you've seen it. Something about singing in the park. I was a bit taken back by the small print which stated;

THIS EVENT IS EXCLUSIVE TO PENTECOSTALS

Is this the best approach? Is this really what we want stated in one of the main voices of the org.? Maybe I'm over-reacting a tad. But surely if for some stupid reason you want to make it an "ONLY US" event isn't there a different way to make that happen? Maybe RSVP or some sort of check-in table, wrist bands........whatever

I for one am embarrased by this.

Guess their tag line "the whole gospel to the whole world" has change?

Re: Apologies to sinners and those yet converted

A couple of years ago my children attended a free-will baptist school (for only one year, thank goodness!) because there weren't many other affordable options. Their standards were similar to upc as far as dress code.
On the door into the school there was a sign that read something to the effect of, " Ladies are asked to be dressed in modest skirts or dresses before entering school, men in pants, not shorts please"... I am sure that the wording was a little different, but you get the idea. Anyone coming to pick up kids that were not "properly attired" were asked to wait in the car.
I remember telling my husband, "thank goodness we haven't gone to any churches like that!"...
Apparently the day has arrived

Haven't seen the Herald - but most likely it means that the special singers are to be exclusively Pentecostal..... not that only Pentecostals can attend? Knowing KH like I do, he would be outraged that any function promoted by the UPC would be exclusionary! In fact, if someone planned it, promoted it in the Herald and meant that the attendees could only be Pentecostal, I would love to be a little bug on the wall when he got ahold of them.

I for one am embarrassed by this.
I am familiar to the event and I think you are taking it wrong.

They do not mean you can't bring your non-Pentecostal friend to it.

It simply means they have bought the rights to the entire park for that day and only those who are registered are allowed in.

Thanks for the clarification Bro Steve.

Still don't think it necessary to advertise it like that. Has a bad ring to it.
