The Spirit of Elijah...

Did John have the spirit of Elijah? IF so do you think it sat on John better than on Elijah? John never healed, from what we can tell in scripture. Elijah was a mouth piece of the one to come. How ever John was the one that was able to say, "behold the Lamb of God." I believe that it is possible because John never asked for God's help to kill himself. Elijah had a Jezabel to run from, John always faced the music. John was the first in scripture to baptize.

What say ye?

Re: The Spirit of Elijah...

Spirit as in essence or spirit is in disposition of mind?

both. I think they would both go hand in hand. I got this thought from a preacher I saw over the weekend. He surmized that it is possible for John to have had a greater dose of the spirit of Elijah than actually Elijah himself did.

Luke 7:28
For I say unto you, Among those that are born of women there is not a greater prophet than John the Baptist: but he that is least in the kingdom of God is greater than he.

I don't know about your question though =P

See to me this verse sums it up. John did have a great Elijah spirit than Elijah himself.

Then that would refer to the Spirit of God that was on Elijah
