Yesterday, two different companies in St. Louis announced they are closing up shop. The region is losing 4500 of the highest paid jobs.

That does not even include Anheuser Busch, who very well may become the victim of InBev's hostile takeover very shortly.

Add to that skyrocketing fuel and food prices and we have a recipe for a depression, not a recession.

There is simply no real growth in our economy at all.
Maybe you can get a gig with Baxter!

Inbevs hostile tak over of AB doesnt mean anything really as it relates to resession or depression. that kind of thing happens in strong economies.

if we do have a resession, it will just be another in a long line of resessions.... and I suspect in keeping with the last 50 year history, it wont be very bad. Even if it is, we will come out of it, and things will get better.

This thing isnt nearly as bad as you think... unless the Iranians attack Israel... then all bets are off.
Ferd, fuel prices alone can bring this country to its knees.

Gas hit 4.19 a gallon at our local station today.

Insane.

That means food prices are going to go up again.

There is only so much padding built in to this.

Believe me, I wish we were wrong.

Truth is, its silly to wait for some governmental agancy to tell us we are in a recession. The evidence can be forund really easily.

Is your budget tighter than it was a year ago?

Have you changed your driving habits?

Have you changed the way you shop for food?

In my house, the answer to all of those questions is yes.

Re: Baxter was right Alicea! The Apocalypse Begins

I'm leaving on vacation...i just estimated my gas cost this year almost 400 bucks for the round trip.

Another 200 bucks will likely be burnt in my boat.

OUCH

Bro, go forth and stuy the 1970's

this is inflation, but not like the 1970's.

and inflation always finds a level. when everything goes up, eventually wages have to go up and eventually things level out and you have a new base.

stop working from a mercantilist view of economics. It doesnt work.
