The drought is worse because there are more people now.

Unless the Church believes in the judgment of God it cannot preach it. God USES judgment to try to get the attention of men. But the in denial Church brushes it off as just coincidence. So the world breathes a sigh of relief and goes on with its ways.

ok,...The church is not unaware of these events. As the time grows closer to the coming of God these things shall happen. It is for the lost and the undecieded that these events [can] be used of God. Sometimes fires are by arsen, sometimes by lightening,sometimes by God himself, but we don't know that.

When God judges its usually some here some there. It continues to build. Notice here:

YHWH is reminding Israel of what has already happened to them. Sores, bruises,wounds, sickness, desolation. None of those things alone would fully wipe them out. Yet its clear that they were being used to punish Israel.

AND YET after reminding them of where they stand at present then we have almost the rest of the book of Isaiah where he tells them the judgments that are still to come if there is not change on their part.

So no I dont think God instantly destroys nations.

And as far as the lighnings that are hitting California I have heard the reporters says over again lately that its record breaking fires. Or it has not been this bad before.

These things are building up. But it has a long way to go before America will understand it is judgment.

Brother, the fact of the matter is that California has wildfires every year. They are worse this years because they have not had much rain. Also, floods have happened many many times in the US. In fact, Iowa suffered from flooding 15 years ago in the same area where it's been flooded this time. You are going to have a hard time proving any of this is the judgement of God against America.

I responded in the topic about end times also.
Our paster has mentioned from time to time that we, America, will see worse destuction that 911 or Katrina. It's what (sp?) Al-ka-die is waiting for.
The only thing I have left to say on this subject, is America needs to wake up. That includes us. The church is not in denial about the end times, she's just soft. Even as spiritual, or as close to God as we can be, it will be "hard" on us. We, as a nation, don't have the survival skills like we use to. Not that we couldn't do it, but it would be harder. We are use to drive throughs and prepared foods, meds, entertainments. This is part of our culture today. To make things better for the next generation is what we told ourselves. And, we have in alot of areas. But, there is always a price.

"Where sin doth abound, Grace doth abound much more."

Who is the author if sin?

"It rains on the just as well as the unjust."

Yes, I believe God controls the weather. Maybe it's something as plain and simple as faith and prayer. Remember the things that Jesus did? Calmed the storm, walked on the water. Do you know what power you have when you pray?

We , the Church, need to pray for this nation......be doers of the word even more now than just hearers.
