Wedding Shower Idea

I did this for my son and his new wife and now I've had one made for my daughter.

I wrote all the recipe cards for all the dishes, desserts, etc. that are either her favorites or easy things to make for a newlywed. I even have a couple recipe cards that were written by my mom to include.

Then I gave them to a friend that scrapebooks and she made the most adorable cookbook for my daughter with all OUR recipes in it.

She has all sorts of cute things included in it too - miniature fork, spoon, knife - little cakes and pies, etc. Just too cute! The towel and potholder on the front are magnets, so they can be moved around!

A unique and personal shower gift if anyone has someone special getting married soon.

This is the book she found to use - - it's just beyond awesome! She just inserted the scrapebooking paper and recipes in the sheets (and that way they are protected too)!!!

Re: Wedding Shower Idea

I did something similiar a number of years ago for Christmas. I collected all my MIL's, my Mom's, and SIL's etc. recipes and put them in a 3 Ring Binder and named it "Family Hertiage Recipes" and put each person's name on the cover.

They loved it!

They received both sides of my families recipes which doubled what they would have had. Since my MIL has passed on now, they are really thankful for the recipes.

The only thing is one of my nieces mentioned we sure had a lot of dessert recipes and just a few meat recipes. However, most of us don't use a recipe to cook meat, we just "know" had to do it.

Great idea Renda with the scrapbook inserts.

Re: Wedding Shower Idea

Yes, this cookbook is HEAVY on the desserts too.

I have a few meal recipes in there, but mostly it's the really good fattening stuff!!

I think that is because most of us can cook without a recipe all the healthy stuff.

I'm going to put this picture of her baking at 8 years old on the inside of the front cover of the cookbook!

Re: Wedding Shower Idea

Attended a fun wedding shower last night. It was too funny!! In groups of two, we created a wedding dress made of toilet tissue rolls on the guys. My daughterinlaw and I made bows for the veil w/ streamers after wrapping his body in tissue... we made fringe...poked tissue in his ears for earrings and on and on... lolol Too cute! The photos were hilarious!

Sometimes it was worth the mess for the memory!

I remembered the picture and have been searching all my albums and couldn't find it. THEN, I remembered I had pulled a lot of her pictures to make a poster about her for show-n-tell in school and have never returned them to the correct albums.

I thought it was perfect to put inside her cookbook along with one of my mother and I cooking Christmas dinner.
