But one day we were walking home from school, and two boys were laying for me in the bushes. I had on separate occasions skinned both of them up pretty good. They decided a collaborative effort might be a more effective way to get a little vengeance on me.

The problem was, they failed to factor my pretty, petite, little skinny sister into the equation. You know what Burns said about the best laid plans of mice and men...

To make a long story short, when they syepped out of that thicket and started the ball rolling, she picked up a flint rock about the size of a grapefruit, and together she and I "went among the Philistines."

A great victory and a mighty deliverance was wrought that day, and we were never bothered by that pair of miscreants again.

So I know what you are talking about, Brother Phelps.
More ways that just one to make a convert or two and give a health dose of ol' time religion to make a true believer...have a mean sister by your side.

Great story.

In fact, on his Myspace page, my 17 year old has a tribute to his brother, and it goes something like this - "Sean, you are now and have always been my best friend. We've had our rise in life together, and we'll go down together. Love ya, Bro."

However, the 15 year old Dylan, is a different story. He fights with the other two to no end, and most of the time, he's the instigator.

I get so tired of him fighting with them, I could pull what hair out that I have left.

But, an amazing thing happens when an outsider comes against Dylan. Sean and Blake, yes the same two that were about to break him in half a few minutes earlier, RUSH to his defense and very quickly render his attackers helpless and wishing that they'd never messed with the little brother.

Imagine my pride when I read Blake's tribute to his little brother, which says "Dylan, you're my little brother, and I've always got your back. Love ya, little Bro."

Now, lest you think my little diatribe is nothing more than the shameless boast of a dad concerning his sons, there is a point to the story:

On here, it seems that many of us fight to no end over the same issues, over and over again.........but, sometimes it's refreshing to see an outsider attack one of us, because that's when the previously disjointed, dysfunctional siblings become what they really are underneath it all - A FAMILY.
Ain't that the truth. I raised 6 kids. From the oldest to the youngest they would ban together against any outside attack, yet fight each other tooth and nail sometimes.

Oh I am sure I do sometimes. That is why I said I try to be. I would stick up for you any time Prax if I thought someone was personally attacking you. And I have reported an unwarrented attack in a post on a person that I really had not had much interaction with on this forum. And I don't always agree with this persons beliefs but defend their right to voice their opinions.
