I've read on the subject a fair amount... I've got some folks close to me who have been touched by abuses and there are so many hurting people among our ranks and we don't even realize it sometimes.

I've read a couple of her books and a personal experience she talks about. Masturbation is a subject that many are uncomfortable with but I have views on it if anyone is interested.

Blessings, Rhoni

Fire away... whether you agree with me or not, it'd be nice to have another female voice.

That doesn't change my opinions that I have posted in the least though. There are things that are extremely harmful...
I don't really wish to have a long conversation on why these are harmful even in adulthood... but they are nonetheless.

I'm sorry, but I completely disagree with anyone who says these are non-issues... or issues that don't need addressing. If you don't need to hear it... don't read it.... but I can guarantee you there are people out there who do need it. And I applaud this lady for writing about it...

We are behind the mainstream Christians in this respect.

This was an excellent and insightful post! I have known Sister Doty for several years and she has touched many lives through her ministry and books. I have purchased " Gay Conversations" for many people that I have known as well as several ministers too.

As you had mentioned in another post, most pastors were just not equipped to deal with issues that have burden those in their congregations. The books that Sister Doty has written shouldn't be belittled because they have literally been tools of deliverance for those suffering under the weight of shame and disgrace.

I wished that everyone could truly see people as Jesus did and could love them regardless of where they have been or what they have been dealing with in their lives. This world has so many hurting people in need of salvation and deliverance and who better to present Jesus to them than Apostolic Christians?

Good point.

I think the fact is... most people have no idea what the effects can be.
The world has justification for almost everything.. even murder sometimes.
I don't think we should necessarily rely on them for our answers.
Not that they don't have some good ones occasionally.
