I am in the technology business and I have been for 15 years. I have been involved with the personal computer and the internet since their infancy (Commodore 64 and IBM PC jr. and Dial up access). I too have worked on pastors computers and found cookies and all kinds of porn pointers that happen without any active efforts on the part of the pastors. I never got alarmed but I DID mention it to the pastors, counseled them on how to protect their systems from such garbage and installed either the AFA filter or K-9 software to ensure that the insidious garbage that is inherent in the internet did not cause them future problems if someone like your "friend" worked on their system.
I would almost guarantee you, Walking, that if I got my hands on your computer I could come away and honestly say the same things about you as your "friend" said about these pastors.... even if you never intentionally attempted to access porn. The registries and other hidden temp file locations can incriminate the most careful of internet users if there is someone set to denigrate them or destroy their reputation.
Hopefully you now understand my post a bit better. Your "friend's" intent was not above board else why did they tell you and not the pastors?

At the time when he saw the porn on the computers he was in the UPCI and word got around he was a computer guy so you know, they used his free services. He never told any of the pastors that I know of partly because they were a 'man of God' and he didn't want to correct them, partly because he didn't want to cause any problems or break any families up since he has seen families break apart because of this addiction.
Later on, I don't know if it was years later but he left the UPCI and we are on this private forum together and it was there he revealed how many of the preachers he knew in the Oregon district would preach holiness or hell and then look at porn on their computers. It really made him upset because these same people were leading people spiritually as you can understand.
Now he never told names for the sake of ruining their reputations and also partly because when people leave the UPC...they get discredited one way or the other and people are told not to talk to them or fellowship with them.
Also, you told me I was spreading gossip and you said this guy that I know was full of it...so that is saying that I'm lying or he is lying. Either way, you think we are wrong, where in fact you might be surprised to know some of these guys he helped.
My point is though that while I was in the UPCI there were alot of pastors that thought they were God's gift to the earth and they were above us. That is why they sit up on the altar. Many of them believe they are above us.
Now, I don't think every UPCI preacher looks at or is addicted to porn. All I'm saying is that it happens more than people would like to admit.
