Obviously, the scripture refers to more than just a common anointing, since it follows up "mine anointed" with "my prophets."

As Christians we should respect one another, but its dishonest to pretend that God doesn't or didn't expect us to show special respect to and for prophets, priests, ministers. By the way, that particular word "anointed" means: "a consecrated person, as a king, priest or saint, specifically the Messiah."

Secondly, there IS some preacher bashing that goes on here. Some do it, some don't. It doesn't help anyone to pretend that doesn't happen. Two wrongs don't make a right.

point out where there has been preacher bashing - I think most have been respectful, namely sis truth seeker and sis beezer.
I can't recall every post so maybe something slipped past me

Negative words about a preacher or pastor can't be told without it being preacher bashing to some.

I didn't say specifically on this thread, Thad, although there may have been; I didn't read every post. But there IS on this forum, from time to time. Usually by the same people.

I don't call that preacher bashing. However, I think that needless negative references, name calling, mockery & making fun...those are things I would classify as "bashing."

Agreed. we should never speak of these things that have happened to some of us at the hands of a minister.

In fact, I think I'll contact the local parish Father and have them drop the prosecution of the preists who mollested the altar boys in our town.

You see, when you have lived under the types of abuse, that has happened to some of us, well I don't veiw those who do such to the saints they have been entrusted to pastor, much differently than I do Father Ilikeboys.

Both men (preist or pastor) have transgressed the trust put in them by us.

Both need to get right with God.

I really can't speak for SisTS or any other's on this thread.

I know of my own experience at the hands of two different pastors.

I really don't want to bash those pastors, only bashing the things they did.

God hates the sin, not the sinner.

1. I've "lived under" abusive leadership. I survived. God is still a good God, and His people are still worth loving and respecting.

2. We aren't supposed to look at anyone that way, even when they've wronged us. When we marginalize someone, it frees us to disrespect them and talk badly of them and treat them poorly, and then we have lowered ourselves to their level.

3. I cannot agree that verbal abuse is the same as molestation of children, or that the perpetrators are as bad. Verbal and emotional abuse is much more subjective, and often it is completely unintentional, unlike molestation, which is deliberate abuse. I will agree that it is equally WRONG, but it is not the same thing, and the perpetrators do not have the same intentions, in general. Many men feel they are doing the right thing when they yell at someone and tell them they are going to split hell wide open if they _______. Ignorance may be a factor, but not necessarily intent to harm.
