It was years ago sisTS..I don't rember...what i remember that on his first nigh at church this new convert was told he had to shave.
His medical condition with shaving aside, the fact that a new convert was treated like this.....
I can't say uit LOUD enough or OFTEN enough. "Our" no facial hair on men doctrine, belongs in the latrine, right along side RR's magic hair doctrine.
People...(pastors) that have hurt people with these hereseys..(or is it hair-isy's) will give an account
Both are as false a doctrine as the trinity, even more so.
It is just plain old IGNORANCE masquerading as spirittual authority.

I was in this place a good long time ago. lol If you ever want to talk, please PM me. I know you don't know me from anyone but the offer still stands. I don't know how different my path would have been with someone to just say "I know" and let me work things out. As it was, I ended up quite off track and it took God a good long time to get my attention again. I'd like to say be cautious, but I was cautious and still ended up where I did. Just know God isn't anything like what you've experienced. When you can again, seek to know Him above all else. Enjoy your peace. :-) It's really an amazing feeling when you first feel that, after being taught the only peace exists within the Church, and then to find it outside the walls.

Would you want to serve a God like that? Yeah, me neither.
A part of me knows and accepts that they were wrong, that the god they serve is not the real Jesus. But because all my former beliefs and concepts were built on a highly faulty foundation, most of it has crumbled into dust. And I find it extremely difficult to trust anything.
Furthermore, I don't trust any of the tools that one would normally obtain answers from (not to mention that I don't necessarily believe that there ARE answers to obtain).
My signature actually sums it up fairly well. I do believe in a divine creator, a higher power, a God. And I do believe that he is Jesus. But that is as far as I am willing to go.
Churches, demoninations, doctrines, rules, heaven/hell, even the concept of the Bible being inerrant, are all things that have no meaning to me.
And the truth is, I am happier than I have been in as long as I remember. Peaceful, you know?
I can't say that I know Jesus better than I did before, but I can't say that I know him less either. In fact if anything I question what I ever really knew in the first place. Even further, I question if God even intended for us to ever have the answers.

If only it was really that simple. Sure would have saved me 8 years of wandering around and a long, hard journey back to where God really wants me.

You did a pretty good job of describing this. I was trying to work out how to say what it means to me and was coming up empty. lol

Hmph. I'd hope no one would use any of those after reading your posts. But I know there are those who will. I really hope you're 99% figure is extremely high. But again I know it's probably not that far off.
How about :
Hurting
Seeking
Sheltered
Wandering (not all that wander are lost..I love that bumper sticker..lol)
Wondering
Finding. You will find. What, I don't know. But you will.

These terrible people (The Oregon pastor and wife) probably would love to know how many thousands of words have been devoted to chronicling the depth of their depravity and evil.
I would just like to remind all and sundry that the testimony of backsliders is generally very slanted at best.
I know that isn't popular with the "Kill the Preacher" crowd, but it is true nonetheless.
All the info is coming from a pretty narrow source, and the pastor has no voice here.
Nothing personal against STS, but just a reminder that one side of any story rarely gives a clear picture.

Most of the practices, as described, I would not endorse.
