To Sit At the Feet of Jesus
Luk 10:38 Now as they went on their way, Jesus entered a village. And a woman named Martha welcomed him into her house.
Luk 10:39 And she had a sister called Mary, who sat at the Lord's feet and listened to his teaching.
Luk 10:40 But Martha was distracted with much serving. And she went up to him and said, "Lord, do you not care that my sister has left me to serve alone? Tell her then to help me."
Luk 10:41 But the Lord answered her, "Martha, Martha, you are anxious and troubled about many things,
Luk 10:42 but one thing is necessary. Mary has chosen the good portion, which will not be taken away from her."
This is pretty interesting, Martha was serving and doing good things, but far better was to sit at the feet of Jesus and learn

- That Jesus name baptism is the only biblical mode of water baptism.
- That the Holy Ghost is for today and is received by faith with the initial evidence of speaking in tongues.
- The saint will go on to strive to live a holy life, pleasing to God.

Yes but after you sat a while, git up and do something.

Of course, but don't you think this is interesting?

Some Christians get to busy doing good things for the kingdom of God that they forget to come into the presence of Jesus in prayer and study of the word.

Yes it is, Prax. It reminds me of some years ago when the Lord worked it out for me to go to a ladies retreat. I knew the Lord wanted to speak to me and I listened to the music and all the messages very intently.
The last message of the whole retreat was when he talked to me and it was on this very subject. He said that I was like Martha - working in the church - too busy to sit and listen.
It was a lesson I will never forget. I got a lot more accomplished when I got home and stopped trying to do everything myself. After I gave it to Him, he opened up more doors and helped me accomplish what I originally intended to do.
Great lesson!!!

It's all about having a relationship with Jesus and knowing Him. We need to be plugged into the vine if we are to bring forth fruit. For without him we can do nothing.
