NLYP, it is posts like these that bring all them questions as to whether or not you really believe in Acts 2:38 message as salvational.

Well , my understanding is that Howard Goodman rejected Jesus name baptism. Therefore as one that believes in the absolutes of doctrinal salvation, from my understanding of biblical salvation, and as sad as it makes me, he will not be tickling the ivories above.

And its reactions like this that make me post the way I do.....
I am rock solid in what I believe.....BUT its amazing to me the way fangs and juries and judges and even executioners com out in the droves......

Where is love and grace and mercy...
Question not Bro. Matt what I believe....but question whats worse....my controversial threads that are meant to be lighthearted in nature...or the reactions that are damning in themselves as folks set themselves up as judge of all mankind.

Maybe I should have said......IF Howard made it to heaven..........

I am looking at this purely doctrinally. Everything in me wishes that on that fateful day years ago that Howard would have not only let Vestal be baptized in Jesus name, but would have entered the waters himself.

Even if you place an IF into the equation, it would show that there was a possibility. In this day when all doctrine is being discarded, I personally want to be a clear note. I do not want to even leave a question in anyones mind as to what I believe it takes to be saved. It has nothing to do with judging anyone. If I am not clear, they may not have a clear message as to what it is going to take them to enter in to the joy of the Lord. It bothers me that anyone would claim to believe this message, and then speak any possibility of salvation through anything other than acts 2:38.

I know most of what you do is light hearted, and I have no problem with most of it. Its just that I see that anything regarding salvational issues MUST be a CLEAR NOTE. Someones eternity depends upon our clarity.

Yall can put your swords up....Bu I am going to make this statement....
You cross a line here that I respect, but I will not cross...

God and he alone decides the fate of men and knows the thoughts and intents of the heart.
I am for clarity.....But man tends to muddy up what God intends to be clear.
When someone is alive I will go the mile to the doors of hell if I have to to tell them about the salvation plan.
BUT...once they enter into the valley that David wrote about, I will Not say anything that will say where they spent their eternity.
That just smells of rotten judgmentalism!
That, My Friend, is a line that I will not cross.
I hope to see ALOT of folks up there that were good Christian people that lived their lives to serve and bring glory to Jesus.
Will this happen? God only knows...but I do hope it anyways...

Jesus Name water baptism is the only Bible way. I can do nothing else, or teach nothing else. But I will not be angry with God if He imputes to them Jesus Name baptism because they openly declared His Name, and declared themselves as His followers by what is recognized worldwide as Christian baptism...or if He recieves the prayer they prayed in Jesus Name BEFORE THEY GOT IN THE WATER, or WHILE THEY WERE IN THE WATER, or a confession of faith made two weeks before. I CANNOT FIND A WAY TO SCRIPTURALLY PROVE THAT HE WILL ACCEPT THIS--SO I CANNOT PREACH IT OR RECEIVE IT--BUT I CANNOT TAKE THE ROLE OF GOD AND BE THE FINAL JUDGE.

Jesus Name baptism is the ONLY SCRIPTURAL WAY. God is sovereign, and I am certain He will be true to His Word--but my logic often falls short and I have to leave the final judgment up to the Judge. I would baptize every single person that I can in Jesus Name, and I will ALWAYS DOUBT that they are saved if they have not been--but I will also always have that lingering hope that there may be some way that God can impute salvation to men and women who have given ALL THEIR LIVES FOR HIM, yet having not known the Truth about baptism. I will NEVER KNOW until I get there.

Was that clear as mud?
