I don't want to get so caught up in getting doctrine correct, or finding loopholes, or whatever the case may be, that I miss Jesus in the process.

The spirit of Phariseeism is still alive and well today. There is nothing new under the sun.

Let us beware in our search and desire for correct doctrine (which is not a bad thing at all), that we don't get our focus more on the doctrine, than on our relationship with Him.

And I speak to myself in this as well.

I understand what your saying. I believe we worship the God of the doctrine, not the doctrine. Some men love the standards, doctrine more than they do the God of them. I’m a simple man, the Bible says

John 16:13
Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth: for he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak: and he will shew you things to come.

The personal relationship you have with Jesus will determine how you live for God. So as long as you have a loving relationship with Jesus your not going searching for loopholes.
