Re: Ready to die in place?

How is it that Churches and people react negatively toward doom and gloom preaching? Jesus was a gloom and doom Preacher if ever there was one.

He was a man of sorrows aquainted with grief.

Simultaneously he was full of Holy Ghost joy. Anointed with the oil of gladness above his fellows.

The Churches or Preachers I have been moved by the most had this perfect blend of the character of Jesus.

If Jesus were actually preaching in Churches today it would clear most of them out. They cant take fire and brimstone, wrath of God teaching like he is wanting to deliver.

Okay, I misunderstood.

I grew up being taught pre-trib or more so pre-wrath rapture. The church will go through some of the tribulation, but not the wrath of God.

Never heard it taught as a secret, invisible coming of Jesus though. More like an incredibly disruptive, very evident disappearing of the saints with a loud sound of a trumpet that the whole world will hear.

And no, our clothes won't be neatly folded like in the movies.

Because people nowadays are infantile. By design.

I believe Jesus preached about sins of the heart and lack of faith. He wasn’t running around talking about all the negative things the government was doing. Big difference.

Pop the popcorn, light a candle and watch the storm blow over. All is well here in the Dells.

We might even see the northern lights tonight.

"We did not wear uniforms. The lady workers dressed in the current fashions of the day, ...silks...satins...jewels or whatever they happened to possess. They were very smartly turned out, so that they made an impressive appearance on the streets where a large part of our work was conducted in the early years.

"It was not until long after, when former Holiness preachers had become part of us, that strict plainness of dress began to be taught.

"Although Entire Sanctification was preached at the beginning of the Movement, it was from a Wesleyan viewpoint, and had in it very little of the later Holiness Movement characteristics. Nothing was ever said about apparel, for everyone was so taken up with the Lord that mode of dress seemingly never occurred to any of us."
