AOG on Water baptism

For those that would have time and an interest to watch this, it is very recent, on “Why baptism is important”. Coming from a very large AOG church (perspective) that my sister attends.
She and I have had several “talks” on the topic.

Brother, did your sister leave Oneness and to the AG, or did you leave AG and head to Oneness?

We grew up attending upc, my mother in, my dad stayed home.
My sister and I after doing young stupid things, in our late 20’s she moved and started attending AOG, whereas I went to an AOG for about 3 months then went back to my home grown upc church. Been there since.
She never cared for the upc “standards” as a teen, and I think that was a big player in her finding another denom later in life.

Re: AOG on Water baptism

After watching this video, I can’t help but wonder if at baptism he says, “in the name of Jesus Christ because of the remission of sins, I baptize you in the name of the f,s, and hg”.
But maybe that is not the case.

Re: AOG on Water baptism

If my memory serves me: don’t the c of c and the AOG believe that In acts 2:38, the “FOR” the remission of sins means “because of” ? Like the Greek word could mean either, and they choose “because of” instead of “to obtain”?
Whereas OP’s interpret it as to obtain.

Is that accurate?

And don’t they believe as well, that “in the name of”, means upon the authority of”, ie: “We come here in the name of King Saul, to cut your legs off”.

Is that accurate?

Re: AOG on Water baptism

Question:

If “in the name” of is upon the authority of, just as the apostles said”in the name of JC rise up and walk, could a baptiser say “in the name of JC I baptism you” and then dunk them?
As apposed to saying”I baptism you in the name of JC”, then dunk them.

Is there a difference?
Does it make a difference?

If the baptizer looked at the candidate in the water and says, “John, I don’t have silver and gold but what I do have I give you, in the name of Jesus Christ I baptize you”, then submerge them. Is that valid? Or is that messed up?

Go to the 14 min mark, and listen to what is said at the 14min 30 sec mark...kind of explains what I’m getting at regarding how I’m guessing this guy might baptise/ what he says.....I’m not sure because I’ve never heard him at a baptism. Although I do know he baptized my niece yesterday.

He is run of the mill AOG, he baptizes in the name of the father, son and holy ghost. He says Jesus is the name, because that is their argument. That in the name of the Father, Son, and Holy Ghost covers Jesus name. Hence those who understood what the Bible was saying cut ties with the AOG and left to form the Apostolic movement. AOG needed to keep the baptism because it was aligned with their Catholic roots. Pray for your family, never debate them, or push anything on your sister. She knows, she knows as much as you. But it isn't doctrine that's the problem or someone getting revelation. It is all personal, it isn't really just about standards. it goes deeper than that. Just watching the video you can feel the shoulder massage Charismatic barefoot pastor vibe. Senior Citizen Woodstock Jesus, Triple Vanilla Latte for Christ. Show your sister and her family your love for them, and the word of Jesus Christ. Not saying enable, because when they bring it up you have to stick to your guns in love. But as far as the video, it is Mc Church, and there is a lot of people eating at McChurch.

Re: AOG on Water baptism

The AoG has people who are filled with the Spirit. They are sweet and dear people.
They baptize in the name of the Father, Son, and Holy Ghost in Jesus name.
But you realize how deep the chasm between us is when they count those who make a decision for Christ as being saved,
and believe that you don't need to be baptized or filled with the Spirit to be saved.

Meaning that’s exactly what the baptiser say/speaks?

At what point do they see Cornelius and John the B disciples as being born again, if it is upon DECISION?

Or do you know?

Or is it justification by faith, something separate and preceding the born-again experience, that they believe in?
