We are to abide in Christ and have his word abide in us so we can bear the fruit of the Spirit or we will be cut off. We are to abide in the word of God and obey it. That includes modesty and gender distinction. We agree on modesty and gender distinction, but debate what exactly that entails. The bible also teaches us to follow the leadership and guidance that God has placed in our lives. We are to work out our own salvation with fear and trembling, yes, that means we need to make sure we get it right.
John 15
15..I am the true vine, and my Father is the husbandman.
2..Every branch in me that beareth not fruit he taketh away: and every branch that beareth fruit, he purgeth it, that it may bring forth more fruit.
3..Now ye are clean through the word which I have spoken unto you.
4..Abide in me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, except it abide in the vine; no more can ye, except ye abide in me.
5..I am the vine, ye are the branches: He that abideth in me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit: for without me ye can do nothing.
6..If a man abide not in me, he is cast forth as a branch, and is withered; and men gather them, and cast them into the fire, and they are burned.
7..If ye abide in me, and my words abide in you, ye shall ask what ye will, and it shall be done unto you.
2 Timothy 3:16
16..All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:
Hebrews 13:17
17..Obey them that have the rule over you, and submit yourselves: for they watch for your souls, as they that must give account, that they may do it with joy, and not with grief: for that is unprofitable for you
1 Peter 3:1-4 Wives, in the same way submit yourselves to your own husbands so that, if any of them do not believe the word, they may be won over without words by the behavior of their wives, 2when they see the purity and reverence of your lives. 3Your beauty should not come from outward adornment, such as elaborate hairstyles and the wearing of gold jewelry or fine clothes. 4Rather, it should be that of your inner self, the unfading beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, which is of great worth in God's sight.
1 Timothy 2:9-10 9I also want the women to dress modestly, with decency and propriety, adorning themselves, not with elaborate hairstyles or gold or pearls or expensive clothes, 10but with good deeds, appropriate for women who profess to worship God.
Deuteronomy 22:5 A woman must not wear men's clothing, nor a man wear women's clothing, for the LORD your God detests anyone who does this.
