Yes, Sean, God is a Spirit (as in John 4:24, John 1:18).

And, Sean, God is the word (as in John 1:1).

And, Sean, the word was made flesh (as in John 1:14).

So, Sean, this Spirit is also His word, and since He was a Spirit and a Spirit cannot be seen, for mankind to "behold His glory" (John 1:14, John 1:18) He took on "flesh" and "dwelled among" them (also John 1:14, John 1:18).

No contradiction, but instead John 1 and John 4 working together in perfect One God harmony.

Now if you were only there in John 4:24 to explain to Jesus that God is flesh.

You could have enlightened him.
