According to that logic, why tax the rich at all???
The way I see it, we need to close the tax loopholes and shelters that the rich and corporations routinely use to evade paying the legal rate. Because when they do this much needed programs and projects suffer, or we end up paying the difference. Taxation is a social obligation, almost a sacred duty to our society. It's the cost of playing the game. If the loopholes were closed, there might not be a need for much of an increase at all. What, they have two fewer vacation homes or yachts? I don't want to see them broke, but I don't feel sorry for them either. I feel sorry for the working poor, single moms, and widows. Y'all are playing violins for millionaires and billionaires. Trump bragged about not paying taxes and y'all praised him. But y'all don't realize, YOU helped pay the difference. Why aren't you upset with that? Excessive taxation to make up the difference could crush a working man's family. A modest tax increase isn't going to break a millionaire or billionaire. In addition, it won't hurt corporations either. And if we can help them wash their hands of employee healthcare, they'll bank long term.

So, you want a nation like the wild west with pickup trucks? Every man for himself?

I've been union since 2004. I've had no problem.

Me too, but it's easier said than done. My Jeep was like 87% American parts. Sometimes it's not so easy.
