Ron Paul on government healthcare...

Quote:
Ever since the U.S. government began to sink its claws into the medical industry a good 50 or so years ago, it has turned the entire field into a complete nightmare. This is par for the course whenever government invades an industry.

Trying to reform this Frankenstein with either Obamacare, or Trumpcare, will solve nothing. It would be like Gorbachev trying to reform the Soviet Union.
Impossible!

The problem is structural. Tinkering with this or that will just waste more time.
A fundamental change has to occur in the thinking about what healthcare actually is. It's not what Americans have been conditioned to believe.

He is totally right.
We basically have no way out of this mess.
Except to create more mess.

I have to believe that even Ron Paul would have changed, had he become President. But I like what he says and wish he would have had the opportunity to run in the general election, instead of the GOP sabotaging him.

No President will be able to dismantle the Federal colossus. Only the States can do it by using Article5.. For that to happen, people will have to start thinking patriotically towards their States. But the States could legally amend the Constitution today and some Federal judge would rule on a technicality that the proper amendment procedure was not followed in an attempt to invalidate the amendments. This would especially be the case if the States eliminated the federal judiciary. The judiciary would simply try to invalidate their own dismantling.

Re: Ron Paul on government healthcare...

This is why I'm for single payer. In my mind, though not a perfect plan, it is the only realistic option at this point.
