the Name of Jesus

I was listening to Brother Stoneking last night. He was teaching on the Name of Jesus. He said some things that I never thought of.

1. the name of Jesus is to us, like the rod was to Moses...the authority and power over the bondage of sin, (Egypt) ...without the rod of God in his hand, there was no demonstration of the authority and power.

2. the apostles used the name of Jesus as though they were in the stead of Jesus. Not just invoking the name like we do today...but acting in the place of the Master...this is a perspective of a authority I never viewed. I couldn't sleep, and prayed for the Lord to bring me to the place where I can become the reality of that concept.

I thought this would be a good topic to discuss...any thoughts for discussion?

  2. The Son is God himself in a human form or "God manifested in the flesh" (1Tim 3:16)
  3. Every sinner must repent of their sins.
  4. That Jesus name baptism is the only biblical mode of water baptism.
  5. That the Holy Ghost is for today and is received by faith with the initial evidence of speaking in tongues.
  6. The saint will go on to strive to live a holy life, pleasing to God.

LS has preached some great messages on the Name of Jesus over the years.

Is this message available online? I'd like to hear it.

Glory to the name of Yeshua HaMashiach, the name above all names.

Re: the Name of Jesus

One cannot use the name of Jesus "as though one were in the stead of Jesus" UNLESS one actually is in the stead of Jesus... otherwise its theft of the name...

Re: the Name of Jesus

hence we find the story of the seven sons of Sceva in Acts 19.

I believe that if we are "IN" Christ...meaning buried WITH him in baptism the correct way...'in the name of Jesus Christ...' then we are the body of Christ on this earth...and 'in the stead' of the Lord...

I believe true believers are "in the stead of Jesus," and LS is spot on with #2.

"Now then we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God did beseech you by us: we pray you in Christ's stead, be ye reconciled to God."
